Archaeological description
Auction Roma 2023a: Greek PB Hemimnaion (1/2 Mine) Weight. Uncertain mint in Asia Minor(?), circa 200 BC-AD 100. ЄIM IMN OVN(sic) in three lines within shallow incuse square / Blank. Unpublished as a weight standard. 1.131kg, 115mm x 126mm. Condition as seen. From the Italo Vecchi Collection. The characteristics of the Greek letters (lunate Epsilon and v-like Ypsilon) indicate that this weight may be dated to the late Hellenistic - Roman period somewhere in Eastern Asia Minor. The inscription appears to indicate that this is a hemimnaion however we have been unable to find a corresponding mina equivalent to this weight standard.
