Archaeological description
Auction Archaeological Center 2007: A Roman Period Lead Weight with loop handle, and high border. 235.00 gr. 11.0×8.4 cm. The encircled Greek inscription reads: Ε/ΛΕΥΘΕ/ΡΟΠΟΛ/ΕWC, Eleutheropolis (Beit Govrin), meaning: “City of the free people”. On the reverse the encircled Greek inscription reads: ΗΜΙ/ΛΙΤΡ/ΙΝ “half a litra”. On the handle there is an additional letter Η, possibly the date: Year 8 (207 AD). With gray patina. In very good condition and very rare.
