Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): hellgrün. Iconography: No cross. No wreath.
CPAI III/2: 1st half of the 7th century AD Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a gold coin (tremissis) or a silver coin (half siliqua). Glass, 18 x 3 mm; 1.10 g. Inv. no. PMA 2853. Acquired in 2007. Description: Pale-blue coloured round weight with a central impression. The cruciform monogram is composed of the letters E on the left, Δ at the bottom, C on the right, Θ in the centre and the ligature at the top. The monogram could be read as ΘEOΔOϹΙ. It can be found on lead seals dated to the 7th or the first half of the 7th century. Two of the known weights of this type were found during excavations in Istanbul-Yenikap1 and Sultanahmet, one is from iznik.
