Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): blau. Iconography: No cross. No wreath.
CPAI III/2: Middle of the 6th - 1st half of the 7th century AD Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a silver coin (half siliqua). Glass, 16 x 3 mm; 0.95 g. Inv. no. PMA 2851. Acquired in 2007. Description: Blue coloured, transparent round weight with a central impression. The cruciform monogram is composed of the letters E on the left, Ο at the bottom, Ρ on the right, and Γ and V at the top. Due to the weathered surface condition, the Gamma under the V is hardly visible. The monogram can be resolved as CEΡΓΙ. The name Sergios occurs rather frequently in different variations of monograms or in legends on glass weights. The monogram is found in this from on lead seals which can be dated to the 2nd half of the 6th and the 1st half of the 7th century.
