Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): lila. Iconography: No cross. No wreath.
CPAI III/2: Middle of the 6th - 7th century AD. Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a gold coin (semissis). Glass, 19 x 5 mm; 2.15 g. Inv. no. PMA 1191. Acquired in 2005. Description: Purple coloured round weight with a central impression. The cruciform monogram is composed of the letters VA on the left written in ligature, Π at the bottom, K on the right, and P at the top. The ligature on the left is not is not clearly visible, it could likely be V and A. The monogram can be read as ΠAKOVPIOV, KAΠOV, KAΠAPIOV or ΠKAPIOV. Reading a tau in the monogram, it can be resolved as ΠATPIKIOV. Reading a chi in the ligature on the left side VΠATOV KAI VΠAPXOV and VΠAPXOV KAI ΠATPIKIOV are possible solutions. A very similar monogram of Prokopios on glass weights has the ligature  on the left.
