Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): hellgrün. Iconography: No cross. Wreath: inscription. One imperial bust.
CPAI III/2: 1st half of the 7th century AD? Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a silver coin (half siliqua). Glass, 15.5 x 2 mm; 0.95 g. Inv. no. PMA 2849. Acquired in 2007. Description: Green coloured round weight with a central impression. The dignitary in the centre is holding a mappa in his raised right hand. An inscription is located around the bust: HCVXIOV. Although the name Hesychios is rare, no prefect bearing this name is known so far. Two variations of glass weights with or without a cross before the name exist. Weights without a cross are as yet only known for smaller nominals.
