Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): hellgelb. Iconography: No cross. No wreath. One imperial bust.
CPAI III/2: Middle of the 6th - 7th century. Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a silver coin (light miliarense). Glass, 21 x 5 mm; 2.40 g. Inv. no. PMA 1087. Acquired in 2005. Description: Pale-yellow coloured round weight with a central impression of an anonymous dignitary. The number of yellow glass weights with anonymous dignitaries is much smaller than the number of those made of dark blue glass. Not a single one has yet been found in an archaeological context. Glass tesserae stamped in several cases on both sides with busts already occur in Roman period Egypt. They were made out of pale-green and yellow glass.
