Archaeological description
Glass weight. Disc. Colour (Farbe): grün. Iconography: No cross. No wreath.
CPAI III/2: Middle of the 6th - 1st half of the 7th century AD. Eastern Mediterranean. Weight for a gold coin (solidus/20 carat). Glass, 24.5 x 4 mm; 3.50 g. Inv. no. PMA 1083. Acquired in 2005. Description: Green coloured round weight with a central impression. Within a circle, the cruciform monogram is composed of the letters P on the left, K and A at the bottom, C on the right, and T and at the top. The monogram had been resolved by Walter Fink as KACTPIKl and by Denis Feissel as ACTEPl. Feissel interpreted the letter Kin combination with the A as an E. Regarding the preserved weights, the letter above the A can only be interpreted as a K. Therefore, it is likely to resolve the monogram as CTAVPAKl. A former prefect with this name is mentioned on a lead seal, but with a slightly different cruciform monogram.
