Archaeological description
CPAI III/2: Square in form with a plain profile; the face is like a large medallion; engraved on the top with a double herring-bone circles enclosing the denominational mark in ounkia – Ϛ and in solidi SΟΛ ΧΧΧ Ϛ. Within the double-concentric circle it reads † ΑΓΙΑ ΜΑΡΙΑ ΒΟΗΘΙ (= May Holy Virgin help). In the corners it reads, ΘΕ / Χ / ΑΡ / ΙϹ (= Grace of God). All inlaid with silver. The bottom is blank. It bears double denomination marks, one is a six-ounkia and the other is a thirty-six solidi which are identical as unit value (ounkia of 27.07 g or solidus of 4.51 g). The bottom is blank but file marks. Patinated.
