Archaeological description
Roman basalt weight cut in the shape of a truncated spheroid with elliptical section. The Roman numeral VI is scratched on the side of the object, possibly to indicate the denomination of 6 Librae. The position of the mark is unusual and the value expressed is nearly one Libra heavier that the actual weight of 1640.9 g. The piece is lightly worn, with scratches on both bases. Diameter of upper base: 8.7 cm; lower base: 8.6 cm.
