Cornucopia	Incised

Square lead weight. Symbol: cornucopia.
Tekin 2025: Lead weight, square, commercial litra (agoraia), 536.3 g, 86 x 85 x 8 mm. Museum inv. no. 8546. Purchased in 18.4.1933 (fig. 29). The square weight has slightly raised edges and its corners are slightly rounded. Within a square frame made with short incised lines (stylized egg and dart pattern), there is an incised cornucopia. The bottom of the weight is left flat, but a engraved frame is created along the edges. The weight is anepigraphic, indicating that it does not have any inscriptions. The engraving work is a later work when compared to the Hellenistic ones. It is likely a mna weight and can be dated back to the first-second centuries CE.
