Archaeological description
Seyrig 1946–48: Poids carré. 44 mm. Bordure saillante simple. Poids: 63 g. Ancre. Σελ–εύκ(ειον) | [ὄγδ]ουν. Dans le champ, inscription fruste; il ne reste dans la partie inférieure droite, que la fin du nom δe l’agoranome: ΙΤΟΥ. Revers losangé.
Gatier 2016: Poids carré en plomb. Au droit, ancre et texte très effacé, à l’intérieur d’un cadre saillant simple; revers quadrillé losangé. Dim.: 4,4 × 4,4. H.l.: 0,3-0,4. 64 g (63 g, selon Seyrig). Comme sur un autre poids semblable de [Seyrig 1946–48, n° I.B.13] (IGLS 3/2, 1213 i), traces d’une inscription dans le champ. Seyrig la lisait [- - -]ιτου, fin du nom de l’agoranome. Il restituait aussi le delta de la dernière ligne. Par ailleurs nous n’avons pas retrouvé son poids n° [I.B.5], qu’il avait également vu au MNB, qui est très proche de celui-ci, mais qu’il attribue à la série ancienne de la cité, antérieure à 187/186 av. J.-C.

Are the weights Seyrig 1946–48, nos. I.B.5 and I.B.14 one and the same object?
According to Seyrig’s archives (HS 328, I), another similar weight belongs to the Aleppo Museum.
