Archaeological description
Tekin 2015b : This Late Roman bronze steelyard weight is in the form of a bust of Minerva wearing a helmet and aegis decorated with the head of Medusa ; on top there is an attachment loop with a hook. The bust stands on a base decorated with spiral motifs. The back of the bust decorated with square-net motif in four lines. On the base, there is a small hole (afterwards ?) in the center at the each side. Although the weight is of bronze it is filled with lead. It measures 19 cm in height (hook excluded) and weighs 2866 g. The weight is in good condition and patinated. It was found with its rod, measuring 74 cm in long and punched on the short arm AMMIANOY (= of Ammianos).
