Archaeological description
Tekin 2013a: This is a square lead weight with rounded corners; it weighs 74.15 g and measures 43 x 49 x 3 mm. On the obverse, a torch is flanked with ΚΥΖΙ and ΤΡΙC for tristater. The weight should be a little heavier than its present mass since a large part on one short edge is missing and some small parts on the other edges are broken away. The abbreviation of the ethnic occurring on the weight attributes it to Cyzicus securely. Torch is one of the most represented civic badges of Cyzicus, alongside the tuna. The masses of the tristater unit previously published are
62.80 g, 60.66 g and 44.43 g respectively. Our example is the heaviest one with 74.15 g among others.
