Archaeological description
Rectangular lead weight, measuring 61x53x15/16 mm and weighing 412,6 grammes ; very worn and very corroded ; with slightly rounded corners. On the obverse, frame (?), two incised letters MN (not very legible) ; many strokes, mostly in the middle. Irregular obverse, with a major hole in the middle and a notch on the right. Notch on the middle inferior side.
Robinson 1941: Inv. 31.657. Lead weight. L. 0.053m., W. 0.06 m., Th. 0.017 m., Weight 412.5 grammes. Rectangular. The observe is nearly flat with an irregular raised border, narrow and low. The reverse is irregular, with two deep gouges, where some pointed tool has been driven into it; and the edges have been clipped or rounded. On the observe the letters are faintly scratched, 0.015 m. high, ΜΝ, an abbreviation for μνᾶ. The mina at Olynthus weighs between 412.5 and 419.5 grammes and belongs to the Euboic standard [Robinson 1941, nos 2382–2386].
