Archaeological description
CPAI III/2: Made from a Byzantine coin of c. 12th century. Heptagonal in form. On the obverse, Chris [sic] seated on throne, holding Gospels; on the reverse, emperor crowned by Virgin. Its mass corresponds to a one-third or half of a gold coin; but not certain. Pierced at two places, perhaps to adjust its mass.
