Archaeological description
Auction Roma 2020: Lot 1870. Gratian, with Valentinian II(?), Æ Coin Weight. Carthage, AD 375-383. DD NN OT, pearl-diademed and draped busts of Gratian and Valentinian II facing each other / FELEX CARTAGO, Carthage, draped, standing facing, holding ears of grain and fruits in both hands. CNG 103, lot 890; cf. Bendall, Weights 2-3 (for obv. type). 4.35g, 17mm, 12h. Good Very Fine; 'desert' patina. Extremely Rare.
Asolati 2022: Exagia solidi imperiali privi dell’indicazione esplicita della funzione: Onorio e Teodosio II (Bonifacio comes Africae ?), 422–423 d.C., [exagium solidi]. Zecca non indicata: Carthago. D/ DD NN O T; due busti affrontati, entrambi diademati, drappeggiati e corazzati. R/ FELEX CARTAC | O (o FEΓEX CARTAC); Carthago coronata, stante di fronte, con spighe in ciascuna mano. b.
