Archaeological description
CPAI III/1 : Square in form with rounded corners folding slightly inwards; worn and corroded. On the obverse, amphora; Μ-Υ(ριναίων) at bottom left and right; Γ in left field; all in relief; depression on the body of amphora. The reverse is blank. The amphora with volute handles occurs on the Hellenistic coins of Myrina, at the feet of Apollo and the Alexanders minted at Myrina. Thus, amphora and ΜΥ refer to Myrina in Aeolis. It is a trimnaion in unit (mna of 428.97 g).
