Archaeological description
CPAI II : Square in form with raised edges on both sides. Both faces are inscribed. On one side it reads ΜΝΑ ΠΕΡΙΝΘΙΑ while on the other side it reads ΠΕΝΤΑΛΙΤΡΟΝ ΔΙΚΕΟΝ. The first inscrption refers that the weight is a mna of Perinthus; the second inscription refers that its denomination is pentalitron (five litrae) and its weight is just or guaranteed as the word dikea refers. We see that two denomination names are cited on the same weight: Mna and pentalitron. So it can be concluded that the Perinthian mna during the Roman Imperial Period was equal to five litrae. There are some missing parts on the rim on one side, so there is some loss of about 100 g in mass.
