Archaeological description
Alessandra Pugliese: Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour with green veins, polished. It shows some signs of wear, with a few scratches and dents along round side and the edge of one base. Here, several dots are incised and form an undefined pattern. The other base is almost entirely covered with two inventory stickers (one above the other); under the latter, one can feel to the touch that the weight has a central non-through hole. The round side is fully inscribed; the text reads: EX᛫AVCT᛫Q᛫IVNI᛫RUSTICI᛫PR᛫VRB[I]; a dent breaks the last word. The diameter of the sphere is 2.7 cm; the diameter of both bases is 1.7 cm.
