Auction Leu 2021: Seleukid Kings of Syria. Antiochos, late 2nd century-64 BC. Weight of 1/4 Mina (Tetarton) (Lead, 60x63 mm, 171.72 g). BAΣIΛEΩΣ / ANTIOXOY Seleukid anchor. Rev. Latticework design. Cf. Pondera 12807 (1/8 Mina). A beautifully produced and unusually well preserved royal Seleukid weight. Minor scuff on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.

Auction Leu 2021: Unfortunately, the plain name 'Antiochos', curiously spelled in retrograde letters but without any epithets, prevents an attribution of this beautiful weight to a specific Seleukid king. However, its style and fabric date it to the later period of the kingdom, specifically to the late 2nd and first half of the 1st century BC.
