Archaeological description
Auction Archaeological Center 2007: Palestine, Judaea (Agrippa II?). A Roman Period rectangular lead weight with a short handle, 220 gr. 7.1×5.3 cm., 0.7 cm. thick. In the central rectangle Dionysus is depicted standing holding oinochoe, with panther on his right and amphora on his left. Around it the Greek inscription reads: ΑΥ/ΤΟΚΡΑΤ / ΤΙΤΟΥ ΟΥ/ΕCΠΑCΙ Ε/ΤΟΥC Δ “Emperor Titus Vespasianus. Year 4”. Year 4 is equal to 73 AD. On the reverse, which is corroded, a chalice is depicted in a rectangle. Around it a partly preserved Greek inscription reads: ΧΕΡΕ[....]ΟΥΝΤΟC. Fair condition. Very rare. (A. Spaer coll. no. W-164).
