Archaeological description
Krapivina 2003: Museum of Archaeology IA NASU, Kiev. Not cleaned; excellent state of preservation. The weight is rectangular with slightly pronounced corners, measuring 3.9-4.0 × 3.6-3.8 × 0.8 cm.; weight 101.895 g. On the obverse there is a fairly realistic representation of a dolphin facing l. with the inscriptions ΟΛΒΙΟ above and ΑΡΙCΤΟ beneath it. Placed above the dolphin’s tail is a circular countermark with a diameter of 0.9 cm and a depth of 0.10-0.25 cm, bearing the letters ΠΟ (“Ο” written inside “Π”). The weight corresponds to 1/4 of the Euboic-Attic mina of standard 100.
