Archaeological description
Krapivina 2003: Museum of Archaeology IA NASU, Kiev, inv. no. O-96/P-25/553. Cleaned; well preserved. Made of an Olbian “aes” with a Gorgoneion. Such “aeses” are dated to the third quarter of the 5th century BC.30 Dimensions: 3.60 × 0.19-0.35 cm; weight 58 g. However, “aeses” of this type weigh an average of 113 g. The weight is roughly equivalent to 1/8 of the Euboic-Attic mina of standard 105. Some examples of similar weights are reported from the Athenian Agora.
