Archaeological description
Auction CNG 2016: Lead weight. Hellenistic or Eastern Roman. Pentagonal weight, each side stamped with head to right, partly legible Greek inscriptions stamped on both sides and around edges. Maximum diameter: 65mm; weight: 353.6 (possibly one libra). Beige patina.
Auction LAC 2016: Greek Lead Pentagonal Weight, c. 3rd-2nd century BC (353.6g, 65mm). Each side stamped with head r. (Herakles?), recurrent Greek inscriptions stamped on both sides and around edges (CIMOEC). Ex CNG 371, lot 1337.
Auction Roma 2019: Hellenistic Pentagonal PB Libra(?) Weight. Uncertain period, 4th century BC - 1st century AD. Of rough pentagonal shape, this piece is stamped roughly centrally on both sides with a head right(?) within an incuse circle, while partially legible repeating Greek inscriptions trace the shape of the pentagon on both sides, and can also be seen around the edge. 353.6g, 64mm x 60mm. Beige patina, stable state of preservation. Lot sold as seen - no returns. Ex Classical Numismatic Group E-371, 23 March 2016, lot 1337.
