Archaeological description

Akyürek Şahin and Uyar 2009: Inv. Nr. 289; Masse: H. (gesamt): ca. 20,7 cm; H. des Handgrif es: ca. 8 cm; Dm.: ca. 12,5 cm; T: ca. 3-5 cm; Bh: 1 cm; Gewicht: ca. 4900 gr. Es handelt sich um ein rundes Gewicht aus Blei mit einem sehr langen, massiven und am Stilende durchbohrten Handgriff. Das Loch war anscheinend für das Aufhängen des Gewichtes bestimmt. Das Gewicht ist doppelseitig ausgearbeitet und hat auf beiden Seiten fleischig ausgebildete, doppelt profierte Ränder mit einem davon abgesetzten runden Innenfeld. Beide Innenfelder tragen Reliefs. Auf der einen Seite (Vorderseite?) zeigt das Relief die Büste des Weingottes Dionysos mit Weintrauben und Ranken. Der Gott ist als Jüngling dargestellt. Auf der anderen Seite erkennt man die Büste des Zeus mit üppigem Haar und Bart. Ein Teil seines Himations liegt auf der linken Schulter. Feinere Details sind bei beiden Reliefs nicht mehr zu erkennen. Auf den inneren Profilen ist das Gewicht rings um die Büsten beschriftet. Die Vorderseite mit der Büste des Dionysos weist am unteren Rand des Griffes ein großes My mit darüber stehen dem Ny auf, die zusammen ein Alpha bilden und somit die Gewichtsbezeichnung Mna ergeben. Die auf dem Gewicht dargestellten Götter Dionysos und Zeus wurden in Tios verehrt. Das Gewicht gehört Schrift und Stil nach in die Kaiserzeit.

Akyürek Şahin and Uyar 2009: It was found by chance in Kayıkbaşı at the confluence of the rivers Billaios and Ladon (near Gökçebey/Tefen at Zonguldak) in 2009. The place of discovery also revealed the remains of a Roman building. The weight was found in the mud inside the building.
Öztürk 2013: A flood in 2009 in the Gökçebey Region, on the southern border of Tios allowed the remains of a construction to come to light that calls to mind a customs warehouse near the Filyos River where it meets with the Devrek River. During a surface survey in the field in 2010 we found two inscribed lead weights under water.
