Archaeological description
Auction CNG 2020: EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN/AEGEAN. Late Hellenistic to Roman Imperial Period. Cast PB Half Libra Steelyard Weight (35×69×10mm, 192.45 g, 12h). Heavy Libra standard. Six-petalled flower within circular linear border; pellet in each quarter; above (separated by line, uncertain inscription ([...]PI/И) in three lines / Blank, but for casting sprue. Edge: zig-zag pattern. CPAI –; cf. Qedar, Gewichte 4076; Hendin, Ancient –. Tan and gray patina. VF. Overall height and weight include suspension loop originally cast into weight. From the S.M.
