Archaeological description
Tekin 2024: Colophon. Tetarton. Pb 132.70 g, 41x45x7 mm. Inv. no. 5.61.92 g. Find place: in the vicinity of Colophon. Acquired in 1992. Lead weight, square in form; the upper edge is concave. On the obverse, lyre; at the bottom left and right corners, unit mark T – E which stands for Τέταρτον - Tetarton (mna of 530.8 g); all in relief. The reverse is blank. The lyre, being the symbol of Colophon, indicates that this weight has been produced and used there. It dates to the Hellenistic period.
