Archaeological description
Tekin 2024: Colophon. Triton. Pb 164.65 g, 44x47x8 mm. Inv. no. 34.18.91. Find place: Değirmendere-Colophon. Acquired in 1991. Lead weight, square in form. On the obverse, lyre; at bottom left and right corners, unit mark Τ − Ρ which refers to triton (Τρίτον – Τρίτη, ie mna of 493.95 g); all in relief. The reverse is blank. The lyre, being the symbol of Colophon, indicates that this weight might have been produced and used there. It dates to the Hellenistic period.
