Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Lead weight; square shape. Signs of wear and corrosion: chippings and small strokes; small horizontal cut under the tortoise; whitish. On the reverse, hollow in the center, small hole and cuts; little lump on the upper edge. Big groove on the upper side. Slightly rounded and slightly raised corners; straight edges. On the obverse, depiction of an half-tortoise in relief. Little dots on the tortoise's shell and circular edge around the shell(?). The head are important and the legs are curved. In the corners, letters in relief: ΔΗΜΟ.
British Museum: Lead weight; embossed figure of half of a tortoise; Greek letter in each corner [possibly "DHMO"].
