Archaeological description
Kruse and Stumpf 1998: Großes Steingewicht, 61 n. Chr., Judaea, 1447,41 g. Zylindrisch mit abgerundeten Ecken, Seiten und Unterseite leer. Durchmesser ca. 10 cm, Hohe ca. 5,5 cm; bräunlich-grauer, wohl ursprünglich weißer Kalkstein. Auf der Oberseite eingeritzte Inschrift: LΕΒΑCΙΛE/ΩC / ΑΓΡΙΠΠΟΥ / ΑΘΑΜΑ, ,,Jahr 5 des Konigs Agrippa, Athama“. Athama oder Athamas war wohl der verantwortliche Marktaufseher, ἀγορανόμος, Agrippa wohl Agrippa II. Das Gewicht entspricht 100 tyrischen Schekeln.
