Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Lead weight; rectangular shape. Signs of wear and corrosion: chippings and small strokes. On the obverse, strokes on the tortoise's shell and small horizontal cut. On the reverse, strokes and hollows. Rounded corners and more or less straight edges; the left edge is slightly concave. On the obverse, light frame and depiction of a tortoise to the right with a domed and square-shaped shell. The tortoise's head is a bit pressed against the right edge and the legs are four globes in the angles. Above and below the tortoise, retrograde inscription in relief: [ΔΕ]ΜΟ but the letters above are pressed against the upper edge and not clearly legible.
British Museum: Lead weight with a raised border; representation of a tortoise with Greek inscription "[DE]MO".
