Archaeological description
Auction CNG 2006: BYZANTINE. Bronze 15 uncia weight. Circa 5th-6th century AD. Bronze brick weight, 55mm × 50mm, weight 0.95 pounds. Integral loop, the upper face engraved with a cross and VN[cia] XU. An unusual large contrebalance weight in an odd division of a pound, unlike anything listed in Bendall. Good condition, dark green patina.
