Archaeological description
Auction Archaeological Center 2007: Phoenicia, Arados (Arvad). A Hellenistic period square lead weight with a handle and raised border, 472.16 g, 5.8×5.8 cm, the handle is 16.6 cm [sic], 13.0/16.9 cm [sic] thick. The obverse depicts the symbol of the Punic goddess Tanit and the monogram of the city of Arados. At the lower area the date is marked in Phoenician numerals: 20+20+10 (year 212/11 BC). The reverse is blank. In very good condition. For two similar weights with the same date see Elayi and Elayi 1997, nos. 266 and 311 (A. Spaer coll. no. W-73 ). Unpublished.
