Archaeological description
Auction Leu 2019: Attica. Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. Weight of 1/16 Mna (?) (Bronze, 30 mm, 27.73 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; to left, olive sprig and crescent; all within incuse square. Istanbul -. Pera -. Silifke -. Extremely rare and very interesting. Struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine. From a European collection, formed before 2005. The weight of this interesting piece corresponds to a one-sixteenth of a Mna of 443.68 g.
