Archaeological description
Internet Auction: Greek-Phoenician Lead Trade Weight SCARCE - 6×30×30 mm. C. 300 BC. Phoenician square lead weight with stylized symbol for Tanit over a grid on the base. Slight earthy surface deposits with a dark grey patina. Ref: J. Elayi, Recherches Sur Les Poids Pheniciens #398.
Auction CNG 2020: PHOENICIA, Tyre. Hellenistic Period. Cast PB Quarter Libra Steelyard Weight (30×29×6mm, 60.60 g, 12h). Dated issue. Dated year 12 (115/4 BC). L BI on raised surface; all within egg-and-dart frame / Tanit symbol over field of net pattern. E&E, Poids 401. Gray patina, earthen deposits, light scrape. VF. Overall height and weight include suspension loop (now flattened) originally cast into weight.
