Auction CNG 2020: Phoenicia, Berytos. Late Hellenistic to Imperial. Cast PB 2 Libra Weight (88×87mm, 558.00 g, 12h). Dorotheos, agoranomos. Galley right; BEP above; A and uncertain symbol flanking stern; ΔΩPOΘЄOY below keel; all within quadrate frame / Blank. CPAI –; Qedar, Gewichte –; Hendin, Ancient –. Rough gray and tan brown patina. Near VF. From the S.M. Collection.
Sawaya 2023: Square lead weight. Dimensions: 72 × 68.40 mm (8) and 88 × 87 mm (9). Mass: 512.50 g (8) and 558 g (9). Preservation: very good. No. 8 is cut twice with a sharp tool. Produced by two different molds. Obverse: galley right, the prow is raised in volute and armed with a ram, the stern ornamented by an aphlaston, with two rudders, a row of oars on each side, LΒΞΡ | A–ΓΟ (above), ‘year 162, being agoranomos’, ΔΩPOΘЄOY | ΜΑ (below), ‘Dôrotheos, one mina’, all within a simple square frame surrounded by a simple raised square border.
