Archaeological description
Auction Archaeological Center 2018: An anthropomorphic lead weight. Dated ΓΠC 283 = 28 BCE. The Greek inscriptions reads: APXEC AΠOΛΛW/NIOY ΔIOΦANTOY AΓOPANOMOY ΓΠC. “The great Apollonius (son of) Diophantoy, who is over the Agora, (year) 283” Pierced for hanging. Two counter-marks are at top and bottom depicting a figure. On the back, a wreath with concentric circles is depicted. With very nice gray patina. In very good condition. 16.5 cm high. 410 gr.
