Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Lead weight; square shape. Signs of wear and corrosion: flaking on the lower right corner; bumps and strokes on the sides. The reverse is a bit bumpy with some horizontal cuts and hollow on the left side. Straight corners and edges but the left side is more flattened. On the obverse, depiction of tortoise to the right. On the tortoise's shell, round impressed countermark with a tripod and maybe two letters in relief: ΔΗ on both sides. Above and below the tortoise, retrograde inscription: ΔΕΜΟ.
British Museum: Lead weight; representation of a tortoise; round countermark with a tripod and maybe an inscription "D H.." on the tortoise shell; retrograde Greek inscription "DE MO".
