Archaeological description
Autoptic examination: Lead weight; square shape. Inscription in relief on both faces: ΑΥΡ' ΕΥ/ΑΝ[Γ]Ε/ΛΟΥ ΚΟΝ/ΨΙΧΙΟΥ and ΙΠΠΑΡ/ΧΟΥ. Signs of wear and corrosion; big hole in the middle of the weight. Frame on both faces. Sides are set at a slight slant. Rounded corners. On the upper side, traces of casting (or handles ?). Roman libra. The hipparchus Aurelius Evangelus Compsicius lived probably at the end of the 2nd c. AD.
