Archaeological description
Willocx: Lead weight; square shape with a round handle. Signs of wear and corrosion: chippings; small strokes on the sides. Slightly folded and rounded corners; the sides are set at a slant; the reverse is flat. On the obverse, raised frame and signs in relief: B <. On the round handle, depiction hardly legible in relief: Artemis of Ephesus?
Vandermeiren: Poids de forme carrée, aux bords en relief, dépassants. Avers inscrit de lettre B, centrée; signe < ?. Appendice, milieu du bord inférieur, forme semi-circulaire et apparemment pliée; ornée d’un dessin. . . Revers lisse, apparemment blanc.

The symbol on the countermark could also refer to Sardis: compare with https://pondera.uclouvain.be/artifact/14459/
Weiß 2017: Ein von Pernice kursorisch beschriebenes Gewicht mit dem Nominal «B<» (= zweieinhalb Unzen) und dem Bild der „ephesischen Artemis“ auf der Oberseite könnte dem neuen Exemplar zur Seite gestellt werden. Sicher ist das aber nicht.
