Archaeological description
Auction Leu 2019: Weight of ½ Mna (Lead, 82×83 mm, 322.68 g), a square weight with raised edges on the obverse, Mna of 645 g, year 22. HM - MN/AI-ON - KB Two crossed cornucopiae with crown of Isis between. Rev. Latticework design. Very rare. Some corrosion, otherwise, very fine. The fabric of this weight is very similar to 2nd and 1st century Seleukid weights, but the dating to a 'year 22' certainly cannot be to the Seleukid era. It perhaps refers to one of the many civic eras that emerged in the mid 1st century in the East following the demise of Seleukid and the rise of Roman power. The weight of the Mna of 645 g corresponds to 150 drachms of Attic weight.
