Archaeological description
BnF: Sixième de mine attique carrée. Plomb. L. 4,2 cm ; épaisseur : 1 cm ; Poids: 157 gr. HMITPITON (rétrograde). Partie supérieure d'une amphore.
Babelon & Blanchet 1895: Poids quadrangulaire. Sixième de mine attique. Une des faces est décorée par la partie supérieure d’une amphore. Inscription autour en rétrograde : ΗΜΙΤΡΙΤΟΝ. Plomb. Poids, 157 grammes. Long. des côtés, 40 mill.
Pernice 1894: Quadratische Bleistück. Paris, Cab. Des méd. HMITPITON. Gewicht 156,80 gr (Einheit 940,80 gr).
Autoptic examination: Lead weight, square shape. Signs of wear and corrosion: chippings; strokes on the upper right corner and on the lower edge; light grooves on the amphora's rim on the right; small stroke on the left side; light bumps on the upper side. Rounded corners; straight edges and sides; the reverse is flat. On the obverse, light frame and depiction of a half-amphora in relief. The handles extend to the rim. Around the amphora on three edges, letters in relief: HMI TPIT ON (retrograde). (Height without relief: 0.95 cm).
