Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Bronze weight in the shape of a truncated sphere. It is in very good conditions and shows little sign of wear or corrosion. Both bases are concave and have a dot incised in the centre. On the lower base, two letters are inserted in different metal: these are Λ and Β and indicate the denomination of the weight – 2 Libras, or a dupondius. Around the spherical object, there is an inscription in Greek letters, which are inserted in the bronze and made of a different metal. The text reads Βασιλίου. The diameter of the sphere is 5 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 2.9 cm and that of the lower base is 3 cm.
