Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, well-polished. It show signs of wear, with dents along the round side; the edge of the lower base is smoothened. In the centre of the upper base, there is a non-through hole, 0.5 cm large and 0.5 cm deep; around the hole, the surface of the object is damaged. The diameter of the sphere is 4.9 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 3.1 cm and that of the lower base is 3.2 cm. An inscription runs around the spherical weight and the text reads: Ex Auct(oritate) Q(uinti) Iuni Rust(ici).
