Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman basalt weight in the shape of a truncated sphere; dark colour, well-polished. It is in fair conditions, but fragmented for a large portion of the lower base is broken, with dents all around the edge of the base. In the centre of the upper base, there is a deep non-through hole, which reaches about half the height of the object. The diameter of the sphere is 4.6 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 2.9 cm and that of the lower base is 4.1 cm. The piece is a quincunx, corresponding to 5 ounces.
