Autoptic examination:
Roman bronze weight in the shape of a truncated sphere. The piece shows signs of wear and oxidation, with green patina and red spots; the surface appears rather coarse and there are incrustations along the round side caused by corrosion. On the lower base, there are two letters inserted and made of a different metal; these are a monogram for the Greek diphthong ου (as in οὐγκία) and an A, and indicate the denomination of the weight: it is an Uncia, corresponding to 1/12 of a Libra. A small dot is incised in the centre of both bases. The diameter of the sphere is 1.75 cm; the diameter of the lower base is 1.15 cm and that of the upper base is 1.1 cm.
