Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman bronze weight in the shape of a truncated sphere. The piece shows little sign of wear and corrosion. On the upper base, there are two letters inserted and made of a different metal; these are the monogram for the Greek diphthong ου (as in οὐγκία) and a Β, and indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a sextans, corresponding to two ounces. Both bases present a dot incised in the centre; this is larger and deeper on the lower base. The diameter of the sphere is 2 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 1.1 cm, and that of the lower base is 1.3 cm.
