Autoptic examination:
Roman bronze weight in the shape of a truncated sphere. The piece shows signs of wear and corrosion: there are some scratches and it is oxidized, with green patina all over the body. The upper base is concave and presents a dot, in relief, in the centre. The monogram for the Greek diphthong ου (as in οὐγκία) plus the letter Γ are scratched, rather than inscribed, on the lower base; they indicate the denomination of the weight: it is a quadrans, corresponding to three ounces. The diameter of the sphere is 2.4 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 1 cm, and that of the lower base is 1.1 cm.
