Archaeological description
Autoptic examination:
Roman bronze weight, in the shape of an elongated truncated sphere. The piece presents some signs of corrosion, with green patina, particularly on the lower base. One deep dent is on the round side of the object. The Roman numeral III is inserted in the centre of the upper base and is made of a different, darker metal. The number III indicates the denomination of the weight: it is a quadrans, corresponding to three ounces. The other base is plain. The diameter of the sphere is 2.28 cm; the diameter of the upper base is 1.5 cm, and that of the lower base is 1.6 cm.
